A Local Area Agreement (LAA) is a three year agreement, based on local Sustainable Community Strategies, that sets out the priorities for a local area.
Between June 2006 and March 2008 we were commissioned by Government Office for the West Midlands to monitor the mandatory outcomes that all Local Area Agreements in Neighbourhood Renewal Fund areas are required to be assessed on.
This work is developing further as a new round of LAAs begins and the nature of support needed by GOWM changes.
We are not monitoring the work of individual areas towards their targets but providing an overview for Government Office on the regional position.

Working with Government Office we provide Local Area Agreement data geographically in map form so key datasets measuring the mandatory outcomes can be viewed in a more user-friendly way. Time series charts and bar charts allow comparisons to be made.

What are Local Area Agreements?
A Local Area Agreement is made between Central Government, represented by the Government Office, and a local area represented by the lead local authority and other key partners through Local Strategic Partnerships.
In the West Midlands there are currently 14 Local Strategic Partnerships with agreed Local Area Agreements.
Each Agreement and the lead contact for the 14 Local Strategic Partnerships is available on the Improvement and Development Agency (I&DeA) site.
