Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 came into force on 1 January 2005. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, anybody may request information from a public authority. The Act confers two statutory rights on applicants:

  • To be told whether or not the public authority holds that information; and if so,
  • To have that information communicated to them.

How do I make a request to WMRO?

The Act requires that all requests:

  • Are documented. It would be helpful if you used our enquiries service for your requests, but you don't have to.
  • State clearly what information is required.
  • State the name of the applicant, and an address for correspondence.

What happens when I make a request?

We exist to help encourage the flow of information within the region and we are committed to providing a good freedom of information service. When we receive your request for information, we will respond promptly and certainly no later than 20 working days after receiving your request.

In addition, we are pleased to offer a general enquiries service to help you find regional information and analysis that we don't hold.
