Black Country Knowledge is the Black Country Observatory's web based knowledge management system which is home to over 120 times series data sets and provides data at various geographical levels covering a wide range of theme areas.
The Black Country Observatory turn this intelligence into a series of easy to read regular and timely reports called Barometer Reports.
These reports provide clear analysis of recent data and enables evidence driven policy debate. The barometer reports are produced on a themed basis:
Bi-annual Economic Barometer
Covering businesses; skills; GVA; earnings; knowledge economy etc. and is produced in March and October.
State of the Sub-Region
This report evaluates the impact of the Black Country regeneration strategies on the sub-region measuring the change from the baseline in terms of a number of key headline indicators. It provides a comparison with the Regional Economic Strategy Indicators. This report is produced annually in September.
Sports Barometer
The initial report provided a baseline for the Sports Sector in the Black Country. Subsequent annual updates will evaluate the impact of the work of the Black Country Sports Partnership on the Sports Sector in the Black Country. The annual report will be produced in May as well as two additional reports - the PESSCL Barometer in October and The Active People Barometer in February.
Education Barometer
This report provides an analysis for key headline education indicators and provides a monitoring tool from which to evaluate the impact of collective actions. This report is produced annually in December.
Health Barometer
This provides an analysis of key national headline health indicators from a Black Country perspective and is produced annually in Febraury.
Visitor Economy Barometer
This report evaluates the impact of the Black Country Visitor Economy Vision and Strategic Framework and other sub-regional activity on the Black Country Visitor Economy.
Specialist Reports
The Black Country Observatory also produces a series of other specialist barometers including; Indices of Deprivation and Ad hoc demand driven topical Barometers, for example the Rover Barometer, Review of Assisted Area Status, and the LEGI Evidence Base.
