Welcome to the fifth Environment Bulletin. This edition has two features on the summer floods of 2007 from different perspectives, as well as a look at the new Growth Points agenda. The Bulletin also includes information on this year's State of the Region report which had a strong focus on climate change.
The Environment Bulletin aims to provide a quick overview of environment-related work from around the West Midlands with contributions from members of the Environment & Natural Resources Topic Group.
The concept of 'Green Infrastructure' planning is an approach that establishes strategic networks of green spaces and other environmental assets. Natural England, as part of a cross-Government approach, is working closely with the region's Growth Points to plan for Green Infrastructure. Read more »
England and Wales experienced the wettest May to July period on record in 2007, with twice the average rainfall recorded. This gave rise to widespread flooding in June and July, and led to one of the most challenging flood emergencies for many years. Read more »
