The Observatory has a large Resource Catalogue on this site, which includes geospatial resources.
We intend to use this freely available service to signpost users to geospatial resources that are held in the region or may be relevant to partners in the region.
What's in the catalogue?
Currently there are a number of different types of geospatial resources signposted from the catalogue, including:
- Map layers
- Shape files
- Data sets
- Links to useful web resources such as MAGIC
What would we like to include?
The aim of the catalogue is to have as many signposts to resources as possible. The wider the number of organisations we can connect to the catalogue, the better the resource becomes.
Existing organisations that have contributed include the Environment Agency, Natural England and the West Midlands Cancer Intelligence Unit.
Future developments
We are currently bringing a mapping project to a close by the end of 2007. This project has seen a working group including local authorities, government agencies and other interested parties identify key resources to be included on our site. We are always looking to enhance the catalogue and broaden the range of resources held in the catalogue.
We are looking at developing keyword search facilities and generally making the catalogue as easy as possible to navigate and use.
How can you contribute?
The best way of contributing is to use the catalogue and to submit your own resources. The more submissions, the better the catalogue will be for all of our users.
To understand the catalogue better, or receive training on how to use the catalogue and submit resources, please contact Steven Dovey (steven.dovey@wmro.org) at the Observatory.
